Designing, building and maintaining leisure and hospitality facilities for people to enjoy

Our approach

No two projects are the same in this sector. To help us satisfy our clients’ aspirations, we like to engage as early as possible so that we have influence while scoping is still ongoing. This helps us fully understand requirements and potential challenges and issues, putting us in a good position to offer the best advice, taking into account important factors such as buildability, phasing and environmental impact.

Often facilities remain fully operational while our work is ongoing. This means working closely with stakeholders to plan and phase our activity to minimise the impact of the works on our clients, end users and communities.

World-class venues

The landmark sports and entertainment developments we create and maintain draw visitors from across the WORLD and beyond. To continue to attract the crowds, venues must deliver an excellent view but more than that, visitors want to feel part of the action on the pitch or at centre stage and enjoy first-class hospitality as well.

Hotels

We work on hotels which span the complete spectrum of style and budget. We have experience of working with listed buildings and retaining facades where quality and finish are key. Our buildings teams have made significant investment in modern methods of construction, including the use of prefabricated volumetric bedrooms and bathroom pods for hotels, panelised system build and cross laminated timber structures, which increases the speed projects are completed, eliminates waste and reduces health and safety risks.

Wet and dry leisure

With health and wellbeing becoming increasingly important, there has been a significant increase in the provision of leisure facilities for both private and public-sector operators.

These facilities are a major source of energy use, accounting for about a third of running costs in a typical sports centre. DHD are designing, constructing and managing facilities in a way which reduces this consumption – better for the environment and better financially.

We have the experience and expertise to manage the whole remit of development, through design, construction, refurbishment and then ongoing facilities management, including specialist areas such as swimming pools with moveable floors to alter pool depth and ice rinks.
